How do I deal with frozen pipes?

There are a number of things you can do to prevent your pipes from freezing, by preparing them for a cold snap. Please visit our winter page, for our preparing your pipes for winter tips.

If your pipes have frozen, there are some simple steps you should follow to reduce any possible damage and get them back to working order as quickly as possible. Please see our video guide on dealing with frozen pipes:

If you have no water because your pipes are frozen, unfortunately, we won't be able to restore your water. We can advise you on the best thing to do, but we don't have any 'special tricks' to get the water flowing again. If you have noticed any damage to your pipework, whether following a cold spell or not, please call a plumber to help you resolve this. We can't help with internal pipework.
