WaterAid is an international non governmental organisation that transforms lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities.
The charity works with partners and influences decision-makers to maximise its impact. WaterAid’s vision is of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation.

We have been an active supporter of WaterAid over the years. Through the support of our employees, customers, and partners we raise vital funds for WaterAid’s work, and each year donate funds raised through our annual Ricky Road Run held in Rickmansworth to WaterAid projects overseas.
We are also proud to be involved with the Customer Campaign since 1993, where customers recruited through the campaign have raised a cumulative total income of £6,105,028. This has enabled over 407,000 people to gain access to clean water.
KitAid
KitAid is a charity that recycles your once loved football kit and distributes to underprivileged children and adults in some of the world's poorest countries.
KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters' trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he wearing his favourite football shirt .
After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick's heart and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Fifteen years on, KitAid has sent out nearly 500,000 kits to children and adults in 40 different countries across the world.

Ricky road run
The annual 10 mile run around Chorleywood & Rickmansworth provides a great challenge to runners of all abilities.
The event attracts over 500 runners taking part with their clubs or as individuals. The race usually takes place on the last Sunday of October. It's a challenging route, which is properly marshalled, with prizes for top finishers. It forms part of the race series for a number of clubs.

Each year Affinity Water employees organise this race to raise money for 3 charities with Water Aid and Kit Aid as permanent beneficiaries and a third chosen every year from a locally based worthwhile cause;
- WaterAid - providing safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene to the world’s poorest people;
- KitAid - taking unwanted football kit to communities in Africa and beyond;
- and a locally based charity.
