High water use affecting your supply - Stanmore - HA3/HA7
Sunday 22nd June 2025
No water/low pressure
Some customers may see their water pressure improve, but we know others are still without supply. We're still working to restore full flow. Because of the warmer weather, many of us are using much more water. This means you may notice lower pressure or no water when demand is higher in your area. We want to let you know that we’re on the case and our teams are working around the clock to make sure we get enough water to you and your community. There is enough for everyone if we all use only what we need. You can help your community by using less, which will make a big difference, meaning there’s more to go around. You can see some of our top water-saving tips here.
Why has this happened?
Just like at home, if you’re showering and someone else is using the tap or flushes the toilet you might notice the pressure is lower. The same thing can happen on a bigger scale. So, when lots of people in your area are using water at the same time (Eg. first thing in the morning or in the evening), this can affect the pressure coming through your taps.
What are we doing?
Our teams are working tirelessly in an effort to get your water flowing again. In some areas we’re tankering (pumping water directly into local supplies), in others we’re rezoning (providing water using different mains).
When will my water return?
We expect that your supply will be back to normal later this evening. However, it is possible you may see further impacts to your supply if we see higher water use than normal in your area. Because a lot of us are spending more time at home, and with the weather getting warmer, it means that many of us will be using much more water than we usually do.
We updated this message at 17:30 and we'll update it again Monday morning.
What's happened so far
(12:30) We have received calls from these areas with no water/low pressure. Initially we thought it was related to a burst water main in HA5, we investigated and realised this is not the case and is due to high demand in the area.
(13:15) Our teams have been on-site and confirmed that the issue is due to exceptionally high demand, which is causing low pressure and no water for some customers. Some customers may start to see pressure improve, but we're continuing work to stabilise the network and restore full service.
