On Thursday 11 July, Affinity Water Women’s Network took part in a volunteer day to help HAWA Multicultural Services CIC. HAWA support women from all different backgrounds and offer wellbeing services that aim to tackle isolation.
The group's Habiba garden had become overgrown and unusable. So, members from our Women’s Network volunteered to restore it so that it could once again be enjoyed by their members. The team were able to clear around the existing plants, and discovered memorial roses planted in memory of HAWA members lost during Covid.
Anna Jarmolinska-Nowak, Sustainability Manager at Affinity Water, said: “We partnered with HAWA to support women in our community. The organisation shares so many of our networks’ objectives - empowering women, who are still underrepresented in the workplace, cultivating, and celebrating their ambitions and achievements, as well as shaping a more inclusive culture.”
Affinity Water is committed to working with our communities to create value for the local economy and society. To support causes close to our colleague’s heart, Affinity Water offers everyone up to four days per year during work time to use for volunteering.
Rushna Miah, Director and Co-Founder of HAWA, said: “Thank you for all your help and making a difference. Habiba Garden offers a delightful social space for women who are passionate about gardening. This nurturing environment promotes well-being and helps reduce loneliness and isolation.”
