Water quality

We are committed to supplying high quality drinking water, and providing an excellent service to our customers and communities.

Central to achieving this is our source to tap approach to managing our water supplies.

Our Catchment Management team works proactively to regularly monitor the rivers and groundwater in our communities. Our treatment facilities use some of the latest technology and sophisticated monitoring systems to ensure we provide water of a high standard whenever you turn on your tap.

Our dedicated operations staff and water quality experts work around the clock to ensure that the water is safe to drink. We sample and analyse the water we supply at all stages of the process. From water treatment works, service reservoirs and customers’ taps to make sure that it meets stringent quality standards.

The Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) regulates the quality of drinking water in England and Wales, and we forward the sample results to the DWI on a monthly basis throughout the year. Each year the DWI publishes a detailed report containing drinking water quality data and results of the audits and other checks they have carried out. This report, and other information on drinking water quality, is available on the DWI’s website.
