Water-saving devices

Whether you have a garden or indoor plants, you can keep them happy and healthy whilst saving water.

Top tips from Joe's Garden

Collect water

If collected properly,
we can have a year-round
water supply.
Connect guttering to outside
buildings and run a
downpipe into a large
water butt.

Don't stop
planting

It's important to replace the crops you harvest or the flowers that finish with a constant supply of new ones. To achieve this, continue to sow seeds each month during summer.

Make your own
plant food

Chop up nettles and place them in a bucket of rainwater, then leave it for a month to ferment. Dilute 1:10 with water and give to your plants.

Water Butt

If you haven’t already got one, a water butt is a great way to collect rainwater to water your garden.

Hoses and sprinklers can use up to 1,000 litres of water an hour- equivalent to more than 12 baths - so rainwater harvesting can be a great way to make you more water efficient and save money all year round.
