We're starting work to improve our pipes in your area

We’re starting work to replace the water main in Butterfly Lane, Borehamwood, WD6 3AD

This new water pipe is essential to help reduce disruption from leaks and bursts, leave more water in our precious environment and will help us to continue to provide a reliable, supply of high-quality drinking water to you and your local community long into the future.

Working in partnership

Having recently completed water mains replacement works close by, we're aware of local traffic flow, so to help with this we've programmed our works to coincide with the summer school holidays.

We're also working in collaboration with Network Rail, which will reduce the overall duration of the road closure.

Location of works

Half of our works are taking place within private land which will have no impact on local traffic. The other half will be within the whole of Butterfly Lane. To ensure the work can be completed safely, a full road closure will be in place with an approved diversion route until early September (see map below).

There will be no through traffic, but access will be provided to residents and businesses throughout the works and the diversion will be clearly signed from all directions. Access to/from footpaths 42 and 44 in Butterfly Lane will be maintained.

When we'll be working

• Approximate dates: the week of 11th July to early September 2022
• Working hours: 7am - 7pm (Mon - Fri), 8am - 2pm (Sat) & 9am - 1pm (Sun)

How does this affect you?

• Traffic management: From the week of 11th July for approximately 8 weeks there'll be a full road closure on Butterfly Lane with a traffic diversion in place for the duration of the works (see map below). This is approved by the Highways Authority and is the safest route for all vehicle types. It's likely that there'll be some traffic disruption at peak times, so you may need to allow more time for your journeys.
• Your water supply: Your water supply is unlikely to be affected during these works. We'll post a card through your door if there'll be any interruptions.
