Burst Water Main - Chertsey - KT16

Monday 10th August 2020

The repair has been completed

Update 09:05

We have successfully repaired the burst water main on Guildford Street.

Where it has been necessary to excavate the area we will continue to work with the local Highways Authority to return the road surface area to normal and ensure that the road or footway is safe for all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. This may mean that we have to maintain the site and any necessary traffic management until this is the case.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this incident and would like to thank our customers for their patience.

This message will be removed after 13:05

Update: 18:15

Due to a location of a high voltage cable in close proximity to the burst water main we will not be able to start our works this evening.

We will continue to liaise with Network Rail in order to make sure all work is completed safely.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your ongoing patience.

A further update will be provided once confirmed safe to continue.

Update: Wednesday 5th July

We are liaising with Network Rail and the repair work will commence this evening.

During this time the road will remain closed.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Update: 16:40

Due to the water main being next to the railway line, we have been working closely with Network Rail to arrange a safe time to begin repairs and minimise disruption to commuters.

The repairs are planned to take place through the night from Wednesday 5 August and our teams will complete preparation works for the repair today.

We have adjusted our network to ensure all customers in the area continue to receive a water supply.

Guildford Street in both directions is currently closed from Station Road to Fox Lane South and will re-open once it’s safe to do so.

We are sorry for the disruption this burst has caused and would like to thank customers and commuters for their patience whilst this work is carried out.

Our engineers are on site and have shut off the water main.

We have adjusted our network so all customers in the area should still have a water supply.

First and foremost, we have to ensure our people and commuters are safe. This will be a complicated repair, so we are working closely with network rail to arrange a safe time to minimise disruption.
