 Update 19:20

We are aware that some blocks of flats are still without water. We have good pressure in the main however it appears that the tanks that feed water to the flats are being drained faster than are currently being filled, causing no waters.

We are working with the managing agents to restore the supply. A large water bowser has been ordered to site with the aim of restoring water to the flats. This is estimated to arrive at approximately 21:30.

We apologise for the ongoing disruption by this incident.

This message will be updated after 22:20.

 Update 14:25

We have remained on site awaiting the arrival of a third party to carry out the neccessary repairs to the broken sewer.

Two blocks of flats are being supplied with an overland pipe currently. This will remain in place until the third party have arrived on site and repaired the broken sewer. Once repairs to the sewer are completed, we will be able to complete works to our fresh water network putting the main back into service and removing the overland supply.

We have been advised that the water tanks for the new build block of flats are now in the process of filling up. Once this is done, the managing agents will be restarting the pumps for the flats and restoring water supplies.

We are sorry for the disruption caused by this burst.

This message will be updated again after 18:00.

Update 08:45

We have successfully repaired the burst water main and anticipate a full restoration of your water supply.

Our local technician has confirmed there is water in the main so all customers should have water. There are some new build blocks of flats that may still have no water; this will be due to pumps within the blocks of flats which will need to be restarted by the Managing Agents.

2 blocks of flats are currently being supplied water by overland supplies. These will stay in place until the broken sewer has been repaired. We have requested urgent attendance from the council to rectify this, but currently have no ETA. Once this has been repaired, we will be re-attending with a repair team to complete repairs and remove the overland supplies.

Should you experience any discoloured or aerated water which is not uncommon following a mains interruption, we recommend that you leave a mains fed tap running for approximately 5-10 minutes. Discolouration of the water is caused by small particles of iron which are within the mains and disturbed during interruptions.

Cloudy water is caused by air that becomes trapped in the mains, neither of these are harmful to your health. To see more about how to clear discoloured or aerated water why not watch our short video guide here

Where it has been necessary to excavate the area we will continue to work with the local Highways Authority to return the road surface area to normal and ensure that the road or footway is safe for all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. This may mean that we have to maintain the site and any necessary traffic management until this is the case.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this incident and would like to thank our customers for their patience today.
