Water Supply Problems - Feltham, TW13,TW14,TW15,TW16 - 13 October 2017

Update 13:30

We have successfully repaired the burst water main and anticipate full restoration of your water supply.

Should you experience any discoloured or aerated water which is not uncommon following a mains interruption, we recommend that you leave a mains fed tap running for approximately 5-10 minutes. Discolouration of the water is caused by small particles of iron which are within the mains and disturbed during interruptions.

Cloudy water is caused by air that becomes trapped in the mains, neither of these are harmful to your health. To see more about how to clear discoloured or aerated water why not watch our short video guide here

Where it has been necessary to excavate the area we will continue to work with the local Highways Authority to return the road surface area to normal and ensure that the road or footway is safe for all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The full reinstatement of the footpath and carriageway will be completed on Saturday 14th October. Traffic management will remain onsite throughout the duration of the works.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this incident and would like to thank our customers for their patience today.

This message will be updated Saturday 14th October.

Update 12:30

The team have now recharged the 30" water main, and successfully diverted water from other areas. This means the vast majority of customers will now experience water returning to their drinking taps. There are still a small number of customers who are experiencing a loss of supply, and this will be resolved once the full repair is completed.

Our repair teams are now well underway with excavating the damaged water main.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this incident, and will update customers further after 14:30

Update 10:30

Our technicians have identified the leak to be on the 10" main, with this in mind we are in the process of recharging the large 30" main in order to return this to service.

We are now looking at rezone options for the customers supplied on the 10" main where we will be diverting water from other areas, Once this work is complete we anticipate the impact on supply to be minimal.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and a further update will provided as soon as one is available

This message will be updated after 12:30

Update 08:00

We have pinpointed the burst as being on a cross fitting between two mains. One of these mains is an extremely large 30" water pipe.

Due to the high volume of water, and to prevent flooding to neighbouring houses, the team on site have now isolated the water main and can begin excavating the pipework.

During this time we ask you not to use any electrical appliances that require a water supply, for example washing machines or dishwashers and to conserve water from storage tanks during the time your water supply is interrupted.

If you do still have a supply, we would advise you to store some water for drinking, in case your water has to be switched off for a repair to be completed.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

We will update this message again after 10:10
