Water network improvements in Takeley

What are we doing

We need to carry out some essential work to the water network in Takeley so we can continue to provide the area with a reliable supply of water for many years to come.

We will be laying new pipework and installing a new booster pumping station, which will improve the supply of water to the area.

Before this work can begin, we need to take a nearby water tower out of service to ensure the work is completed safely and quickly. Whilst this is out of service, we will adjust our network to ensure supplies remain available to customers.

It is unlikely this work will have an impact on supplies, but rest assured we have plans in place to prepare for unplanned interruptions.

When are we doing this?

The work will start on Tuesday 28 May 2019 and will be completed by Tuesday 4 June 2019.

Why are we doing this?

The Takeley area has experienced times of low water pressure. Although levels are still above the minimum we are required to provide, we recognise that upgrades do need to be made in the area to improve the water supply network.

Excavations have begun for new pipework, which will connect up to existing water mains.

Work is progressing to install the new booster pumping station which will help to improve water pressure in the Takeley area.
