We’re sorry for any disruption caused while we start some urgent works at one of our main reservoirs that supplies water to the Hemel Hempstead area.
Your water supply will continue running as normal, but we’ll update you if there are any changes.
We’ve now successfully installed the new section of pipe at the reservoir. We have a little bit more work to do over the next few days to make sure everything is running smoothly, which should be finished over the weekend.
On Monday 29th November we’ll be able to make a start on returning the area to normal, this will include rebuilding the perimeter fence, replanting the shrubs and making sure everything is looking neat and tidy. We also hope to reopen the footpath leading from Quendell Walk to Adeyfield Road by the end of next week – if not before.
The installation of the new pipe took us a little longer that we’d expected, but now that it’s installed, we’ll be able to start the urgent works to the reservoir on Tuesday 30th November.
We’ll be working inside the reservoir and on the external walls. Some areas of grass on top of the roof will need to be removed, but this will all be reinstated when we’ve finished. All work will be within the reservoir site and we’ve got plans in place to minimise any disruption.
This is a big job, but it’s important for us to make sure the reservoir is in top condition so that we can continue to supply high quality drinking water to our customers.
We’re progressing well and we’ve reached all of the pipes underground which means we can start on the emergency work that’s needed.
We’ll be continuing to dig and backfill some areas next week and as soon as we’re ready to move on to the final phase, we’ll let you know.
We’ll update you again with our progress w/c Monday 22nd November.
We’ll be working to install a new section of pipe at the reservoir. This emergency pipework is needed as we need to start some urgent works to the inside of the reservoir and will make sure your water supply isn’t interrupted during these works.
Firstly, we’ll be clearing some shrubs and preparing the area for some machinery to arrive. We’ll then start digging to reach the pipes underground, so you may hear some noise from us working.
There’ll be deliveries to the site so you may notice more traffic than normal, but we’ll do our best to minimise any disruption. Unfortunately, this means we’ll need to close off the footpath leading from Quendell Walk to Adeyfield Road so we can make the area safe for the public and our teams while we’re working.
After the new pipe is installed, we’ll be starting the works to the inside of the reservoir, as well as to the external walls and roof. The area will then be completely reinstated and returned to its current condition once we’ve finished.
You’ll notice more of our engineers working in the area during this time as it’s a big job, but it’s important for us to make sure the reservoir is in top condition so that we can continue to supply high quality drinking water to our customers.
Dates: Starting Saturday 6th November until the end of January 2022.
Working hours: Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm and Saturday – Sunday, 9am to 4pm.
