Thanks to Affinity Water employee’s generous donations, The Penrose Club for Adults with Special Needs is now £1,134.64 better off! The money was raised during March’s Time to Give charity day.
Business Lead for Production Maria Kominou and CSR Manager Anna Jarmolinska-Nowak organised the events which included a cake sale at Hatfield and collections at various offices including Egham, Hatfield and Folkestone.
Maria said: "I visited the Penrose Club with Elke Cooper on Tuesday 9 April and experienced first-hand the amazing atmosphere and great work that the members and club helpers do.
"All the helpers are volunteers that generously give their time to support the club and their carers. We saw up to 70 members on the day all participating in different fun activities and getting involved in conversations with each other".
"Part of the evening is assigned to a committee/members meeting. This meeting is actually run by the members rather than the helpers and everyone gets involved on what would be the upcoming events, with an emphasis on fun and friendship.
"It was humbling to hear that one of the topics discussed is how they can raise money for other charities and clubs that are in need. We talked to so many of the members and helped them with running some of the activities on the day, everyone was asking when we are coming back.
"They were very grateful for the money we all raised for them and got a beautiful card that was made from one of the members thanking Affinity Water. "

Note: Affinity Water hold eight Time to Give charity events each year to raise money for local charities within its communities. The events are organised by employees and Affinity Water match-fund the donations received.
