The Ricky Road Run is back for 2021, and we need you to help us support international charities WaterAid and KitAid

  • Second virtual run
  • To date over £430,000 raised just by Affinity Water staff and customers
  • For an entry fee of £10 you can run, walk, hop, skip, or jump your way around a 10 mile route

Affinity Water is appealing for more people from the local community to get involved to make this year’s “Virtual” 38th Ricky Road Run bigger and better than ever and to raise more money for two international aid charities WaterAid and KitAid.

The annual 10 mile run around Chorleywood & Rickmansworth takes place this year from 16th July to 2nd August 2021, and is one of the biggest charity races in the area. Each year the event is organised in association with Affinity Water to raise money for charities at home and abroad.

KitAid was founded by Derrick Williams MBE, in 1998 and has since donated over 700,000 items of old football kit to projects in over 50 countries.

Affinity Water has supported WaterAid for a number of years, helping to promote the important message of clean water, decent toilets, and good sanitation, as well as raising vital funds. Since 1992, Affinity Water staff and customers have raised a staggering £13,000,000 for WaterAid.

Kevin Barton, Head of External Communications for Affinity Water said:

“At a time when there is more focus on the importance of international aid and doing our collective bit to help others in poorer countries The Ricky Road Run plays an important part in Affinity Water’s international charity work. The £13,000,000 we have raised over the past thirty years for WaterAid is testimony to just how committed our employees and customers are to helping others internationally who are in need of our support. We know that the climate crisis is a water crisis too in these countries and Affinity Water is doing all it can to help the environment.

“KitAid is another international charity close to our hearts. The Ricky Road Run is great fun and I would urge people to join in “virtually” and help us raise money for international aid too. So far it has helped us raise over £430,000 for a number of charities both at home and abroad including KitAid and WaterAid, which we are hoping to build upon this year.”

The race will be taking place virtually for the second year running and entries to sign up as a participant are now open. For an entry fee of £10 you can run, walk, hop, skip, or jump your way around a 10 mile route of your choosing, anytime you would like between 16th July and 2nd August 2021.
