Affinity Water gives a helping hand to Friends of the Elderly

Friends of the Elderly, a charity based in Woking has received a donation of £2,500 thanks to Affinity Water’s Community Engagement Programme.

Visiting Friends is a service which works to support older people, especially those who are lonely and often isolated to insure they lead fulfilled lives. As part of the work they do, volunteers arrange days out for groups living in the local community to socialise and take part in activities.

With the money donated, the charity has taken some of its members on a day out to Wisley Gardens in Surrey.

Sandra Smook, Visiting Friends Manager said: “Sometimes those of us who are able to get out and about don’t realise the real difference these outings have on many of the older people who often find themselves in lonely and isolated situations. Thanks to the very generous funding we receive from Affinity Water we can offer appropriate transport and a wonderful experience for those older people who never fail to be hugely appreciative. Thank You Affinity Water!”

Affinity Water Community Stakeholder Manager, Adam Warner said: “We are pleased to have the chance to support Friends of the Elderly. Affinity Water is a community-focused organisation serving local people and we want to be involved in projects which benefit the communities we serve.”

Affinity Water’s Community Engagement Programme offers opportunities for charities and organisations within its community to benefit from Affinity Water resources, expertise or funding. To find out more information or about the next round of funding, please visit
