Elham Valley Line Trust gets a helping hand

Elham Valley Line Trust (EVLT), a railway museum and countryside and crafts centre in Shepway has received a helping hand of £2,400 thanks to Affinity Water’s Community Engagement Programme.

The EVLT is a popular visitor attraction run by volunteers who work to educate people on historical railways and the surrounding countryside. The volunteers help to preserve the disused Elham Valley railway line, the working museum and also produce old English crafts at the Working Crafts Centre.

With the money donated, EVLT will be building a new teaching shelter within their current play area. The shelter will provide enough room for classes of up to 30 children to have outdoor teaching sessions where they can take part in pond dipping and many other exciting outdoor activities.

Clive Nuttman, a volunteer for EVLT said: “Our volunteers work extremely hard and enjoy all of the visits we receive from schools, families and clubs. The new shelter will provide even more excitement for our team here at EVLT and we welcome new visitors! Thank you Affinity Water.”

Adam Warner, Chair of the Community Review panel said: “We are pleased to have the chance to support the Elham Valley Line Trust. Affinity Water is a community-focused organisation serving local people and we want to be involved in projects which benefit the communities we serve.”
