The team helped students to understand the Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) behind the water industry and the relationship between water available in the environment and the amount people use.
The Big Bang Fair Eastern provides hands on activities and shows for secondary school students aged 11-18 years, which aim to inspire future scientists and engineers at a regional and local level. There were around 3,000 students from 60 schools which attended the event.
Affinity Water sponsored the chemistry prize for best student project competition. The award was won by The Herts & Essex High School & Science College in Bishops Stortford for the Junior Category and Richard Hale School from Hertford won the Senior Category. Hannah Battram, Affinity Water Education Services Manager presented the prizes of £200.
Hannah Battram, Affinity Water Education Services Manager said: “We are really excited to have had the opportunity to work with the students and help them understand the importance of water as well as the link between STEM subjects and real-life industry.”
Helen Spencer, event organiser for Setpoint Hertfordshire said: “Thank you to Affinity Water for attending the Big Bang Fair Eastern.
“Events like this are crucial to attracting young people to work in hugely rewarding Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics careers – we celebrate their achievements, inspire them and open doors on how these subjects are applied in the workplace.”
