Affinity Water lends a helping hand to Hertfordshire charity

The Hospice of St Francis, a charity based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, has received a cash boost of £1,620 thanks to Affinity Water’s Community Engagement Fund.

The Hospice of St Francis provides specialist palliative, end of life and supportive care for around 2,000 patients, family members and carers affected by life-limiting illness across Herts and Bucks every year, helping them to live their precious lives well.

With the money donated, the Hospice will be able to renovate the fountain pond in its seven-acre gardens, which provide visual beauty and a healing, tranquil environment for patients, families, visitors and staff. The Hospice was recently gifted the Myeloma UK Garden, as featured at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, which was officially opened earlier this month.

St Frances Hospice

Mark David, a trusts fundraising volunteer at the Hospice, said: “Thanks to the funding from Affinity Water, the fountain pond will improve the aquatic environment of our gardens, encouraging wildlife and enhancing the experience of patients, families and visitors, providing a point of beauty, peace and contemplation.”

Bev Taylor, Chair of the Community Review panel, said: “We are pleased to have the chance to support The Hospice of St Francis. Affinity Water is a community-focused organisation serving local people and we want to be involved in projects which benefit the communities we serve.”
