Essex Wildlife Trust

 

Essex Wildlife Trust is a charity that exists to secure a better future for the wildlife and people of Essex

Established in 1959, and dependent on membership subscriptions, donations and legacies to fund the majority of their work. The trust also receive some sponsorship from business, and grants from organisations such as English Nature, The Countryside Commission and The Heritage Lottery Fund.

Essex Wildlife Trust is the leading conservation organisation of its kind in Essex. With over 32,000 members and 450 corporate supporters, they look after more than 7,250 acres of land on 87 nature reserves and 1 nature park in the county.

Spending nearly £1.5m each year caring for Essex wildlife and encouraging others to do the same. They currently have over 2,000 volunteers who freely give their time and skills to support conservation in Essex, and 84 full-time staff. Last year they taught over 38,700 children and adults about wildlife on over 1,100 separate events, activities and teaching days.
