The Trust is a local charity specialising in wildlife conservation in Hertfordshire and Middlesex with 40 nature reserves covering over 1,900 acres of land from woodlands and wetlands to meadowland and orchard.
With the money donated, the Trust will raise awareness of the unique wetland habitat at Lemsford Springs to help educate the local community on the importance of the quality of water in the environment for wildlife and to increase biodiversity.
Jenny Sherwen, Senior Reserve Officer at Herts Middlesex Wildlife Trust said: “We’re very grateful to Affinity Water for their generous donation towards our work at Lemsford Springs. The reserve is a really special place for wildlife, particularly for wading birds. Affinity Water and our dedicated volunteers are helping us to protect this precious habitat, ensuring that it continues to be a fantastic place for people to get close to local wildlife.”
Bev Taylor, Corporate Social Responsibility at Affinity Water, said: “We are pleased to have the chance to support Hertfordshire and Middlesex Wildlife Trust who do so much good in their community. Our Community Engagement programme was set up to help local community groups and charities to apply for funding for specific projects that benefit their area and where there is a good link to our core business of supplying water."
