Winner - Conserving Rare Water Birds (HMWT)

Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT) is a local charity and a leading voice for wildlife conservation in Hertfordshire and Middlesex.

HMWT will use the funding to hold a project to protect and restore reedbed habitats for rare water birds at Rye Meads nature reserve.

Oval Community Garden

Oval Community Garden is a small community garden working to give the community access to a green space they can care for and enjoy.

The organisation has no access to a water supply on site so rely on volunteers bringing bottled or tap water from home to water the plants. The group would like to install guttering on their storage container to harvest rainwater in a water butt. A variety of age groups would be involved in this project and teach them all how best to collect rainfall to use in the garden.

Young Enterprise

Young Enterprise is an education charity running programmes for young people to help them recognise and develop key employability skills. The programme also helps schools educate students in careers.

The charity would like to deliver two programmes – Employability Skills and Learn to Earn. Both will be taught to schools within the area.
