Winner - Butterflies Domestic Abuse Support Group (Home Start Shepway)

Funding will be used to provide a weekly term time support group for women who have suffered or are suffering from domestic abuse. Sessions will be run by a domestic abuse support worker and trained volunteers to provide a safe space for women to build confidence and connections through craft sessions. These sessions will help to reduce isolation and improve access to further support and information.

East Kent Housing (Shepway)

East Kent Housing has asked for water butts for the category winners in the Shepway Tenants and leaseholders annual gardening competition. The competition encourages tenants to get out in the garden no matter what sort of space they have, as it has many health and wellbeing benefits. The tenants board also encourages water saving within the garden entries and the water butt prizes support that aspect.

National Trust

The National Trust is a charity founded in 1895 by three people who saw the importance of the nation’s heritage and open spaces and wanted to protect them for everyone to learn and enjoy.

The White Cliffs of Dover National Trust group would like to install animal water troughs and fittings. The purchase of two troughs will enable conservation grazing management on new sections of land recently acquired by the trust. The land is designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in ‘unfavourable’ condition. Grazing management will allow the natural flora and fauna of the wider landscape to flourish, transitioning the new areas back to a natural chalk grassland habitat in a sustainable way. Avoiding the use of machinery will also protect the surrounding historic structures and chalk grassland.
