Our teams have now completed the reinstatement and all traffic management has been removed.

We would like to thank our customers for there patience and apologies for any inconvenience caused throughout this incident.

Wednesday 13 November 2019 

Following the burst water main on Banes Down, our teams have completed their repairs and the area is being reinstated. We anticipate this to be completed by the weekend. 

We apologise for the disruption caused by these works and thank our customers for their patience. 

This message will be updated once reinstatement is completed on Saturday 16 November 2019. 


Thursday 07 November 2019

Our repair team have been on site today and continued working to repair the burst water main. As there is an extensive amount of work needed, this is taking longer than anticipated. 

All customers have a water supply at this time.

Once repairs are completed and the area reinstated, a further update will be provided.

Wednesday 06 November 2019

Work to repair the damaged water main on Banes Down has been continuing. Whilst repairs are ongoing, we do not anticipate any disruption to customers water supplies, though this may be at a lower pressure than normal. 

We will provide an update and estimate on when we expect these works to be completed as soon as further information becomes available. 

We will update this message again on Thursday 07 November 2019.


Update 19:00

Our team on site have been able to restore the water supply to our network. The repair is still on-going and is estimated to be completed Tuesday 5th November.

Your Water supply should now have restored but may be at a lower than normal pressure whilst the network recharges.

Update 17:50

Having remained on site, our repair team are continuing the work to fix the damaged water main. We are currently investigating options to temporarily restore water supplies at this time. As soon as further information is available from site, an update will be provided.

Our repair team are on site, however due to complications with the repair and a potential safety risk, we have requested the urgent attendance of Herts Traffic Managment before our work can continue. Once we have confirmation that it is safe to proceed a further update will be provided.

If you are in the above area and are experiencing problems with your water supply, we currently have a burst water main on Banes Down which may be affecting you. Our technician is on their way to investigate and a further update will be provided as soon as possible.

During this time we ask you not to use any electrical appliances that require a water supply, for example washing machines or dishwashers and to conserve water from storage tanks during the time your water supply is interrupted.

If you do still have a supply, we would advise you to store some water for drinking, in case your water has to be switched off for a repair to be completed.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and aim to restore your supply to normal as soon as possible.
