Road Closure/Low Pressure - Stanmore - HA3/HA7

Thursday 24th July 2025

Road closures / low pressure in Stanmore

Following the burst water main on The Highway on Thursday. Our team isolated the burst and a rezone was put in place while we work on the repair to the burst pipe.

Low pressure

All customers had their water supply restored, however some may be experiencing low pressure especially during peak times.

What we’re doing

Work has been continuing throughout the day to clear the roads and footpaths from debris.

We've made good progress and and we've completed the repair on the burst pipe. We'll be starting the next stage of the repair which involves flushing of the mains pipe before we can return it to service fully. We'll let you know once your normal water supply is back in place (this is likely to be over the weekend) and your pressure should then return to normal.

Road closure update

There were road closures this morning on The Highway, Kenton Lane and an eastbound closure on College Hill Road.

  • College Hill Road is now open.
  • Kenton Lane is now open.
  • The closure on The Highway is likely to remain closed for around a week while we work on the pipe repair and full reinstatement of the road.

We're sorry about the disruption and any delays this has caused, and we’re doing everything we can to get this back to normal as quickly as possible.

We added this message at 16:35 and we'll update it again once we have more information.

Debris on the highway

What's happened so far?

Friday 25th July 2025

(17:45) Flushing is being carried out as Fire Hydrant has now been fitted.

(16:10) All customers had their water supply restored, however some may be experiencing low pressure especially during peak times.

(14:45) Update regarding traffic management: The partial closure on College Hill Road has been lifted, we may need to put this back up at a later time. Kenton Lane is clear of all debris, the footpaths have been jet washed and they have a road sweeper to do a final sweep of the road. Once this has been done the road will be opened, which is estimated to be at about 17:00 today. The Highway will remain closed due to working on the Burst.

(11:20) Repairs are still ongoing, the team are awaiting fittings to arrive onsite.

(04:30) We are currently installing a fire hydrant, still awaiting a mini digger. Pressures are currently stable.

(02:20) The clean up on Kenton Lane requires a mini digger to clear up the large lumps clay which the sweeper can not clear, with the road not being cleared the road closure will remain in place from The Highway, Kenton Lane and Collage Lane.

(00:00) Repairs have started.

Thursday 24th July 2025

(23:00) Road closure on The Highway and working to clear the area overnight from debris.

(22:00) A rezone is in place so all customers should have their water supply back on.

(19:55) The burst main has now been isolated, customers within this shut will have no water, please see the streets affected above. Our technicians have identified a valve to rezone that part of the shut, once the rezone has been implemented, all customers who are in the shut zone will see their water restore, albeit at lower pressure. We do not have an ETA on this as of yet.

(18:35) Our technicians have shut two valves and the pressure is starting to restore to the wider area.

(17:45) Our technicians ETA is 10 minutes.

(17:00) Our loggers are showing a pressure increase in your area, indicating a potential burst, two technicians are on route to investigate.
