What work are we doing?

We’re replacing the water mains on the A404 and A4005 Harrow Road, Wembley (HA0), between Crawford Avenue and Cheshunt Avenue.

Why are we doing this work?

New homes and developments are being built in the area, with more on the way. To make sure we can provide good water pressure and a reliable supply, we need to invest in our network to meet this growing demand.

We’re installing new water mains to help move water more efficiently across the supply area. This will reduce low-pressure ‘pinch points’ during busy times of the year and help reduce unexpected interruptions to supply.

By upgrading our water mains now, we’re helping our network to support customers today and for the future.

When is this work happening?

This project will install 1.3 kilometres of new water pipes. It will help make the water network more reliable for our customers, support new homes being built in the area, and secure a sustainable water supply for the future.

Who is carrying out the work?

Arrow icon

This work will be carried out by our contractor, J Browne.

Will the work continue over weekends and bank holidays?

Arrow icon

We may need to work some weekends to make sure the project sticks to the schedule and to reduce the length of the disruption. We'll do our best to keep noise to a minimum.

During the festive period, the site will be closed and cleared from 19th December until 6th January. Our traffic management measures will be removed during this time.

We're still finalising our plans for Easter 2026, but we'll share more information in the near future.

Will there be road closures?

Arrow icon

No, there won’t be road closures of the Harrow Road, but to help keep traffic moving, temporary rolling traffic lights will be in place along the A404. There will be some side road closures to reduce the disruption caused by higher vehicle usage. These measures are in place to make the work as safe as possible.

Will deliveries, buses and bin collections still happen?

Arrow icon
